By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man and a woman are behind bars following their arraignment on a single count of possession of ammunition without a gun license on Thursday.

Forty-one-year-old Luzby Lionel Martinez, a self-employed resident of Tigris Street, Belize City, was jointly charged along with 45-year-old Sherilyn Aranda, a hair braider. The pair appeared on Thursday afternoon in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison.

They were read a single charge of kept ammunition without being granted a gun license after police allegedly found a total of ten live rounds at their Tigris Street residence. The ammunition reportedly included four Aguila brand 9mm rounds, three CBC brand 9mm rounds, two Lugst brand rounds, and one additional Aguila brand live round.

Police say the discovery was made on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, during a search at the home.

Both Martinez and Aranda pleaded not guilty to the charge. Due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied, and the duo was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until April 30, 2026.

In court, the pair was represented by attorney Ronell Gonzalez.
