Northern, Southern areas still affected also
By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Hydrology Unit in the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining has issued a comprehensive flood forecast for Thursday, November 28, highlighting significant flood warnings and advisories, particularly in the Belize and Cayo Districts. Areas in Southern Belize also continued being affected by high water levels.
The forecast, updated at 12:10 PM, provides critical information for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

- Flooding conditions persist in communities along the Belize River Valley and downstream areas.
- Causeway at Crooked Tree: This route is currently impassable.

- Rio Hondo and Mopan River: Flood warnings are in effect.

- Residents are advised to monitor waterways and exercise caution.
- Rio Hondo: Decreasing flood stage levels at Blue Creek North; increasing levels at Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman, and Douglas Rio Hondo to the coast.
- New River: Bankfull stage levels expected at Hill Bank, Tower Hill, and Caledonia to the coast.

- Residents are advised to monitor waterways and exercise extreme caution.
- Mopan River: Flood stage levels expected to continue at Benque Viejo del Carmen.
- Macal River: Reservoir levels at Chalillo, Mollejon, and VACA spillways are active; levels at San Ignacio remain below the Low-Lying bridge.
- Belize River: Flood levels expected to decrease at More Tomorrow; increasing levels at Double Run approaching historical TD16 levels. Crooked Tree Lagoon levels have exceeded the causeway and continue rising.
- Region 11:
- Residents are advised to monitor waterways and exercise caution.
- Sibun River: Above normal levels expected at Freetown Sibun.
- Southern Lagoon: Above normal levels expected to continue at Gales Point Village.
- Watersheds on Eastern Slopes of the Maya Mountains and Sittee River at Kendal Bridge: Above normal levels expected to persist.
- Monkey River: Below normal levels expected at Swasey and Bladen.
- Deep River: Below normal levels expected at Medina Bank.
- Rio Grande: Above normal levels expected to decrease at San Pedro Columbia and Big Falls South.
- Moho River: Above normal levels expected at Blue Creek South and Jordan.
- Temash River: Below normal levels expected at Crique Sarco.
- Region 13:
- Sarstoon River: Above normal levels expected.
The next update by the Hydrology Unit in the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining will be provided as necessary. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and adhere to the advisories to ensure safety during this period of heightened flood risk.
