By Breaking Belize News Staff: Late Thursday evening, three men hailing from different areas of Belize City and Ladyville were rushed to the Belize City Magistrate Court to face charges of being members of various gangs. Julian Emilio Woodye, Allen Albert Anderson Jr., and Kenyon Carlton Flores, were each charged for allegedly being associated with separate gangs, according to police reports.
Julian Emilio Woodye, 24, was the first to be arraigned, accused of being a member of the George Street Clique (GSG). Woodye, unrepresented in court, initially sought a sentencing indication before entering a plea. Despite his plea of not guilty, Woodye was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until May 20, 2024, as per the automatic remand protocol for gang-related charges.
Allen Albert Anderson Jr., appeared separately before a Senior Magistrate in Court #6. Anderson Jr., associated with the Vista Side Boys Gang (VSBG), also pleaded not guilty. Despite seeking clarity on potential sentencing outcomes, he was informed by the court that fines are not applicable for this offense, with a maximum prison term of 10 years upon conviction. Anderson Jr.’s next court date is set for June 20, 2024.
Kenyon Carlton Flores, 23, a construction worker from Belama Phase 5, faced similar charges for his alleged membership in the Banak Zone Clique (GCG). Like his co-accused, Flores pleaded not guilty and was denied bail due to the nature of the offense. He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June 20, 2024. Notably, Flores has three other active cases pending before the court.
The arraignments highlight ongoing efforts by authorities to address gang-related activities in Belize City and surrounding areas, underscoring the seriousness with which such offenses are treated within the legal system.
