Third man in recent weeks busted for knife between 8:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: For the third time in the last few weeks, a man has been charged for being in possession of a knife between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Sherwin Stephen Baizar, 37, a resident of the Mile 8 Community on the George Price Highway, appeared in court unrepresented on Tuesday. He was read a single count of being in possession with an article with a blade over three inches in length between 8:30 p.m and 5:00 a.m.

Baizar pleaded guilty and explained that he had recently been assaulted, that’s why he had the kitchen knife on him. According to police, Baizar was spotted by a mobile patrol on Baymen Avenue after 12 a.m. on January 15. Police say he was staggering and appeared to be under the influence of either alcohol or drugs.

He was fined $400 plus $5 cost of court and given until March 24 to pay, in default 4 months in prison. The court also discovered that bnaizar had unpaid fines from a previous matter, and he was ordered to settle the fine before he could go free, which he did.
