Thieves target Orange Walk home, escape with cash and gold chain

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a burglary in Orange Walk Town in which a businessman reported the theft of cash and jewelry.

The 32-year-old victim, who resides on Sapodilla Street, told police that he and his family left their home around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, after securing the property. When they returned at about 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, they discovered the house had been burglarized.

According to the report, the man’s bedroom had been ransacked. Stolen items included $1,500 in U.S. currency, $500 in Belize currency, and a 14-karat rope gold chain valued at $3,500.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed the scene and determined that entry was gained by sliding open a window and removing the screen.

Police have identified a person of interest, Luis Aragon, also known as “Wicho,” and investigations are ongoing.
