The European Union (EU) is inviting the public to nominate outstanding individuals who are changing the game in Belize and making a difference through bold leadership, community impact, and real results. Submissions for the Belize Game Changers Awards are now open, with the nomination deadline extended to March 1, 2026.
Across Belize, people are pushing boundaries, lifting communities, and building a better future; the Belize Game Changers Awards will spotlight these changemakers and celebrate their contributions across key sectors shaping the country’s development.
The competition includes five categories in alignment with some of the EU’s partnership priorities with Belize under the EU Global Gateway strategy, including health, climate & energy, digital sector, transport, education & human rights.
Eeach category winner will receive a BZD $1,000 cash prize, provided by the European Union. Winners will be officially announced at the Game Changers Awards Ceremony in May 2026.
Who can be nominated
A person who:
- Is Belizean or a resident of Belize
- Of any age (no age limit)
- Is creating meaningful impact in one of the award categories listed below
Award Categories
Nominees must be making impact in one of the following areas:
- Health: expanding access to healthcare, mental health, public awareness or community well-being.
- Climate & Energy: advancing sustainability, nature-based solutions or renewable energy in Belize.
- Digital Sector: using technology to improve access to services, civic participation or economic opportunity.
- Transport: making transport safer, cleaner, or more inclusive through local innovation.
- Education & Human Rights: promoting inclusive learning, youth empowerment or social justice.
Submission requirements
All submissions must include:
- Short video (HD, maximum 90 seconds, 25MB or less)
- Short description of the video entry (300 words or less)
- One (1) photo of the nominee
- Clear consent from the nominee featured

The EU encourages communities, organisations, schools, workplaces, and families across Belize to take part: nominate someone whose work deserves the spotlight, someone creating solutions, inspiring others, and making Belize stronger.
