The Caribbean Oxford Initiative (or CaribOx, for short) is a new visiting fellowship and travel grant program designed to stimulate purposeful and long-lasting collaboration between researchers from institutions in the Caribbean and the University of Oxford. The program aims to be a nucleus for world-class international research and knowledge exchange across disciplines and across career paths and stages.
Applications are open for Caribbean based researchers to apply for Visiting Fellowships and Travel Grants to visit the University of Oxford in 2027. See more information below, and at CaribOx.
For researchers in the Caribbean there are two pathways for cross-institutional collaboration between the Caribbean and Oxford:
- Visiting Fellowships provide established researchers at Caribbean institutions with a twelve month affiliation with the University of Oxford, including ten months virtual engagement and a two month in-person visit to Oxford during Trinity Term (May-June.) Visiting Fellows collaborate with a member of staff at the University of Oxford providing an opportunity for new relationships to be forged between the Caribbean and the University of Oxford.
- Travel Grants are available for early to mid-career researchers to allow two to four week research visits to the University of Oxford.
