By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Ten people are in police custody after officers found two loaded pistols, dozens of rounds of ammunition and a large quantity of suspected drugs at a home in the San Pedrito area of San Pedro Town.
According to police, around 7:30am on Wednesday, November 4, the Anti Narcotics Unit and K9 Unit executed two search warrants at a two storey blue wooden house.
Nothing was found downstairs. But when officers searched the upstairs with the help of K9 Axel, the dog alerted to a wooden clothes shelf in the bathroom area, between a plastic shower and a washing machine.
Behind the shelf, police found two bags of suspected cannabis and a small black box containing nine bags of suspected cocaine weighing 259 grams. Two 9mm pistols, a Taurus and a GUA, were found concealed between the shower and the wall. One was loaded with five rounds and the other with four.
Officers also found a vacuum sealed bag of suspected cannabis inside a school bag in the ceiling, weighing 332 grams, and a Ziploc bag holding a magazine and 34 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Nine men between the ages of 18 and 57, and a 53 year old woman, were detained and taken to the San Pedro Police Station. No charges have been announced.
Earlier that morning, in a separate operation, police searched an abandoned lot on Barracuda Street and found 402 grams of suspected cannabis under dry leaves beneath coconut trees. No one was in the area, and the drugs were recorded as found property.
Investigations continue.
