The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) hereby informs the general public that the Joe Taylor Bridge in Hopeville/Punta Gorda Town will be temporarily opened for controlled and monitored vehicular traffic beginning May 27, 2025, following the application of the first chip and seal bituminous layer.
This opening is intended solely to facilitate the proper setting and curing of the chip seal layer on the bridge approach. It is in no way, shape, or form a permanent opening of the bridge or an indication of project completion.
Between the dates May 27 to June 10, 2025, the bridge will be open daily between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for monitored and controlled traffic only. During this period, the bridge may also be sporadically closed without prior notice to allow for additional construction and finalization works, as needed. Please also note that the second and final chip seal layer is scheduled for application on June 5, 2025. On this date, the bridge will be temporarily closed once again to complete the final surface treatment.
The Ministry advises all residents, motorists, and stakeholders to exercise caution and adhere to posted signs and instructions from on-site personnel at all times. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we work to complete this vital infrastructure project safely and efficiently.
