Teens pleaded guilty to robbing men at barbershop

By Aaron Humes: Two teenagers who are good friends were separated after their guilty pleas to the same crime landed one in jail and the other a fine.

The teenagers were accused of being involved in a robbery at Bucks Barber Shop on South Creek in which two men socializing at the Barber ship were robbed at gun point.

19-year-old Coby Ledlon, a Construction Worker of Neal Pen Road, Belize City was charged with robbery while 19 year-old Rasheed Elliott, a Tour Guide of Neal Pen Road, was accused of handling stolen goods for items allegedly stolen during the robbery that were found in his possession.

The duo appeared unrepresented before the Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola. Elliot pleaded guilty to dishonestly assisting in the retention of a black cell phone valued $250, property of Jeffery Gentle, 68, of Antelope Street, Belize City.

Ledlon pleaded guilty to robbing Jeffery Gentle of his cellphone and Bramdon White of his cell phone, $30 cash and a brown wallet containing personal items. He claimed in court that no firearm was used and that he did not carry one, only brushed down pockets

Elliot was fined $500 and cost of court to be paid by June 24, in default, 5 months imprisonment.

Ledlon was imposed two custodial sentences of 3 months each. His sentences are to run consecutively hence he will spend 6 months total for the robberies.
