Teenager survives assailant’s attempt to stab him through window over ‘jealousy’

By Aaron Humes: Police have now charged the suspect involved in an attempted aggravated burglary and assault early on Friday morning in which a minor, 17, was the apparent target.

19-year-old Elwin Pitter of Pitter Street was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary today, Saturday.

The minor told police that he was at home in bed when a man pushed his right hand through the wooden louver window, holding a large knife and attempted to stab at him.

He recognized the attacker as Pitter, a neighbor and friend of his, and went outside after him but the attacker fled.

The complainant reported the incident to GI-3 policemen in the area of Pitter Street at the time of the incident. An initial search of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful; however, Police were called back a short time later and apprehended the accused.

The suspected motive for the incident is alleged to be jealousy over a female’s attention.
