By Aaron Humes: Police detained a woman in connection with a robbery of a 16-year-old student reported on Tuesday.
The minor said she was in front of a pawn shop at the corner of Regent Street West and East Canal when she was approached by a clear skin complexion Hispanic male individual, slim built, wearing a red t-shirt, red hat and red short pants, who was on a black male frame bicycle. He started to have a conversation with her, however she kept ignoring him. As a result, the male person went to his right side of his waist and lifted his shirt, displayed what appeared to be a black firearm, and demanded that she hand over her two chains, which were around her neck, both valued at $50. He also grabbed her iPhone X Max cell phone, which was in her left hand, at a value of $1,000 with an iPhone case at a value of $50 all for a total value of $1,100. The male person then rode his bicycle towards Water Lane, Belize City and escaped.
Police have detained one person pending investigation for handling stolen goods and recovered the phone. Their investigations continue.
