By Breaking Belize News Staff: An 18-year-old Belize City resident has pleaded guilty to three serious firearm-related offenses and is now awaiting sentencing.

Kiwan Devaughan Gabourel, of Temash Street, appeared unrepresented in Court #3, where he admitted to keeping a black 9mm pistol without a license, keeping 10 live rounds of 9mm ammunition without a license, and possessing a firearm with its serial number removed.

The Senior Magistrate explained the seriousness of the charges, ensuring Gabourel understood that by pleading guilty, he was admitting the weapon was his and that he had removed its serial number. Gabourel confirmed his plea.

Sentencing was deferred until next Thursday, September 18, 2025, to allow Gabourel the opportunity to call character witnesses and present a mitigation plea. Until then, he has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Gabourel, who recently turned 18 and said he previously worked as a mason, faces the likelihood of a prison term when sentencing is delivered.
