By Zoila Palma: As the Taste of the Caribbean 2025 competition draws near, Team Belize is stepping up its preparations to proudly represent the nation on the regional stage.
The country’s top chefs and bartender have been undergoing a series of intensive training sessions, fine-tuning their techniques, experimenting with flavors, and perfecting their craft under the mentorship of an elite panel of culinary experts.
Guiding the team are renowned chefs: ACF Certified Executive Chef and past Taste of the Caribbean judge Jeremy Abbey; Chef George Castaneda, a Culinary World Cup Champion and the first U.S. Culinary Olympics champion; Chef Rob Pronk, creator of the Taste of Belize and one of the country’s leading gourmet chefs; and Chef Sean Kuylen, pioneer of Belize’s hyperlocal #nobarcode food movement and a strong advocate for preserving Belizean culture through cuisine.
Since winning Taste of Belize 2025, the national team has completed three demanding training sessions—two at Chef Rob’s Gourmet Café and one at Ember’s Ristorante in Hopkins.
As they prepare to travel to Barbados for the regional showcase, Chefs Jeremy and Rob will accompany the team, with Chef Rob serving as Team Leader.
The Belize Tourism Board extends gratitude to sponsors Caribbean Chicken and Running W Meats for their continued support in helping showcase Belize’s culinary excellence to the Caribbean and beyond.
