Taylor’s Alley resident remanded on firearm and ammunition charges

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Taylor’s Alley resident was remanded to the Belize Central Prison late on Wednesday evening after he was arraigned on firearm and ammunition charges in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

He is 38-year-old Dixon Montero Cayetano, originally from Honduras, who told the court that he is now a naturalized Belizean. However, Cayetano was unable to produce proof of his Belizean nationality, and the sitting Senior Magistrate noted that the court could not confirm his citizenship status at this time.

Cayetano, who lives at Taylor’s Alley in Belize City, appeared unrepresented before the Senior Magistrate in Court #2, where he was read two charges: kept unlicensed firearm and kept unlicensed ammunition.

Police allege that on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Cayetano was found in possession of a black 9mm Daewoo brand pistol and 13 live rounds of 9mm ammunition during a bust in the Taylor’s Alley area.

Before entering a plea, Cayetano told the court, “They nuh find nothing on me yuh know.”

The Senior Magistrate advised him to remain calm and explained that the court first had to take his plea. Cayetano then pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied, and Cayetano was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

He is due back in court on August 31, 2026.
