By Horace Palacio: The Cayo Tour Guide Association (CTGA) is reminding visitors to Mountain Pine Ridge and other natural sites in Belize to practice responsible tourism by taking their garbage with them. In a recent post, the association shared an image of trash left behind near an informational sign, emphasizing the importance of the “Pack it in, pack it out” principle.
The message is clear: leaving garbage behind harms the environment and takes away from the natural beauty that so many come to enjoy. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Jaheem Lisbey, who provided extra garbage bags, the waste was removed from the site.
The CTGA is urging all visitors to respect Belize’s natural spaces, ensuring they remain clean and pristine for future generations. Whether hiking, camping, or simply passing through, the responsibility to keep these areas litter-free falls on everyone.
