By Zoila Palma: Belizean shrimp took center stage at the “2025 Taiwan Cuisine Show” held on September 9 at the Art Box in Belmopan, where two master chefs from Taiwan prepared a variety of authentic dishes for a packed audience.
The event was attended by Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam and around 100 guests.
The chefs highlighted the versatility of Belizean produce in Taiwanese cuisine, preparing specialties such as shrimp on rice, stir-fried satay lamb, and Taiwanese popcorn chicken.
Several Taiwanese restaurants based in Belize also participated, offering samples of their signature dishes. Guests were treated to a vibrant display of flavors that blended local ingredients with traditional Taiwanese cooking styles.
Governor-General Tzalam praised the event, noting the joy of experiencing new flavors and cultural traditions.
The culinary showcase not only celebrated food but also strengthened the longstanding friendship between Belize and Taiwan through cultural exchange and shared experiences.
