By Zoila Palma: The Embassy of Taiwan in Belize hosted the 2025 Taiwan Cuisine Show on September 9 at the Art Box in Belmopan, showcasing the richness of Taiwanese food and culture.
The event featured popular Taiwanese restaurants in Belize, including Simple Life, Formosa, and Mama Chen and live demonstrations led by visiting master chefs Pan Tai-Ju and Chan Chih-Chiang.
As part of the “2025 International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisine,” the chefs introduced a variety of traditional Taiwanese dishes, highlighting both meat and vegetarian options.
Guests had the opportunity to learn about the history and preparation of Taiwan’s beloved flavors while sampling authentic specialties.
Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, Lily Li-Wen Hsu, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of sharing her country’s culinary heritage as a bridge to strengthen cultural ties with Belize.
Governor General of Belize, Dame Froyla Tzalam, congratulated the Embassy of Taiwan for bringing “a taste of Taiwan” to Belize and expressed gratitude for the continued cultural exchange.
Other notable guests included Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Louis Zabaneh, CEOs Chester Williams, Tanya Santos, and Valentino Shal, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from Taiwan ICDF, and members of the local Taiwanese community.
