By Zoila Palma: The Government of Taiwan continues to play a central role in financing Belize’s infrastructure development, supporting multiple major projects outlined in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing’s budget presentation.
Among the largest is the BZ$100 million loan used to fund the Corozal to Sarteneja Road upgrade, a critical northern corridor completed in 2025.
Minister Julius Espat explained that Taiwan is also providing funding support for the construction of the new Belcan Bridge in Belize City and contributed to the Highland Estates housing development in Belmopan.
Additionally, Taiwan is a financing partner in the ongoing upgrade of the Philip Goldson Highway.
