By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Embassy of the Republic of China (ROC) Taiwan in Belize celebrated its 113th National Day with a ceremony on Thursday night that included the Prime Minister and other distinguished guests. The National Day celebration also marks the start of a 3-day expo hosted by the Taiwanese Embassy featuring a number of Taiwanese products.
Taiwanese Ambassador to Belize, Her Excellency, Lily Li-Wen Hsu in her remarks commemorated three decades of diplomatic relations between our nations. She also announced plans to have Belizean shrimp on Taiwanese shelves in the very near future.
Prime Minister John Briceño also shared a strong commitment to the diplomatic relationship between Belize and Taiwan in his remarks.
Following the official proceedings Prime Minister Briceño and the Ambassador toured the booths at the expo, sampling a range of Taiwanese items and food products.
The official National Day festivities took place in Taipei, Taiwan and featured Belizean dignitaries including Deputy Prime Minister, Cordel Hyde and Belize Ambassador to Taiwan, Dr. Candice Pitts.
Notably, the Leader of the Opposition did not attend the National Day celebration in Belize.
The expo continues on Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm.
