Taiwan Ambassador visits National Assembly

By Zoila Palma:  On April 14, 2026, Taiwan Ambassador to Belize Amino Chi visited the Belize National Assembly for the first time since assuming his post, and paid a courtesy call on Carolyn Trench-Sandiford, President of the Senate of Belize.

Discussions included views on parliamentary diplomacy, and cooperation programs between Taiwan and Belize, especially in the aspect of education.

Following that discussion, Ambassador Chi toured the National Assembly.

President Trench-Sandiford expressed special thanks to Taiwan for its assistance in the renovation of the “People’s House”.

The National Assembly of Belize, originally constructed in 1970, features a Mayan pyramid architectural style.

The building’s renovation was completed in February, 2026.
