By Breaking Belize News Staff: Fifty-year-old tour guide Sydney Louis Peyrifitte Jr., a businessman of Mile 8½ on the George Price Highway, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for the murder of Kenneth Llewelyn “Big Tom” Flowers, 47, who was gunned down on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Peyrifitte, who operates with Exotic Shore Excursion, arrived under heavy police guard, escorted by armed officers of the GI3 unit. He appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6 at 2:25 p.m., where a single charge of murder was read to him. He was unrepresented, and no plea was taken due to the indictable nature of the offense.
Magistrate Dennison denied bail and remanded Peyrifitte to the Belize Central Prison until December 11, 2025. Before being escorted out, Peyrifitte told the court he had received death threats and requested protective measures for himself and his family. The magistrate assured him that his concerns would be forwarded to prison authorities and advised that his family report any threats to police.
According to police reports, around 4:34 p.m. on October 6, Flowers was driving his dark blue Chevy Equinox along Mopan Street when multiple shots were fired at his vehicle. He crashed into another vehicle on Sittee Street and was later pronounced dead at the KHMH at 4:53 p.m.
Police recovered twelve .9mm expended shells, a projectile, and five bullet holes in Flowers’ vehicle. Peyrifitte was later intercepted in a blue Ford Edge, where he reportedly handed over his licensed .9mm Beretta Px4 Storm pistol, two magazines, and 22 live rounds.
Investigators say Peyrifitte admitted under caution to firing at Flowers’ vehicle. His firearm has been sent to the National Forensic Science Service for analysis.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Flowers died from hypovolemic shock due to a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Notably, Peyrifitte was previously charged in 2008 with discharging a firearm in public, but that matter was later struck out.
