Sydney FC blunted as Auckland FC claim historic A-League Men championship title

Auckland FC have won their first A-League Men championship title after defeating all-time record-holders Sydney FC 1-0 in front of a record crowd in Auckland on Saturday night.

A single, serendipitous goal to the club’s first ever signing, Cameron Howieson, in the 60th minute was enough to lift the Black Knights to their second trophy in two seasons. Adding some salt to the wounds for the Sky Blues was Steve Corica becoming the first coach to win three championships in the competition, making history against his old side.
