Suspected ‘Gaza New Generation’ gang member fined $4,000 for promoting gang activity on Facebook

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 24-year-old suspected gang member of the Gaza New Generation (GNG) gang has been fined $4,000 after pleading guilty to promoting gang-related activity through social media.

Damion Edward Saldano appeared before Magistrate Mannan Dennison on Wednesday morning, where he admitted to publicizing several photographs on Facebook displaying gang hand signs linked to the Bloods gang. Police say the images were posted with the intent of promoting gang-related activity.

The court imposed a fine of $4,000 plus $5 court costs, which Saldano must pay by March 31, 2026, or serve one year imprisonment in default.

According to police, Saldano has been under investigation since April 2, 2018, as part of a wider probe into Belize City gangs. Their intelligence linked him to the Gaza New Generation, a clique of the notorious George Street Gang (GSG), which is aligned with the Bloods.

Investigators noted that the Bloods distinguish themselves through the color red, the “20’s” insignia, gang hand signs symbolizing “2” and “O,” tattoos, hairstyles, graffiti, and clothing styles. Police surveillance and analysis of Saldano’s three Facebook accounts uncovered multiple photographs of him displaying Bloods insignia, which were later stored in the Gang Intelligence Database.

On September 30, 2025, police formally interviewed Saldano in the presence of a Justice of the Peace before charging him with promoting a gang-related activity.

Authorities continue to monitor the activities of Belize City’s gangs, which include six known cliques under the George Street umbrella: the Neighbourhood Bloods (NHB), Gaza Next Generation (GNG), George Street Clique, Afghanistan, Through the Park Gang (TTPG), and the Antelope Street Clique also known as “One Slappr Horse & Carriage.”
