By Zoila Palma: Supporters of businessman Andrew Munnings, owner of Munnings Funeral Services, are organizing a fundraising drive this morning at 9 a.m. on Albert Street to assist with his legal and financial situation after he was remanded over outstanding tax payments.
Organizers are encouraging the public to contribute in any way they can.
Donations may also be made directly to Atlantic Bank account number 211807883 in the name of Monica A. Munnings, or by contacting 607-0717 for more information.
The initiative follows a surge of public backing for Munnings on social media, where many have described him as a pillar of the community for his ongoing support to students, the homeless, fire victims, and hurricane survivors.
Former Commissioner of Police and current CEO in the Ministry of Transport, Chester Williams, also voiced support online, calling Munnings a role model.
“I sympathize with my friend Andrew Munnings for the situation he finds himself in. I must say that as business people we cannot run away from paying tax. I don’t know what went wrong with my friend that he is now caught up in this situation. However, I must say that he is a well-respected and law-abiding person who is looked upon by many youths as a role model,” Williams said.
Williams urged others to join the efforts to support Munnings.
The campaign continues to gain momentum as Belizeans rally around Munnings, calling for compassion and a constructive resolution to his case.
