By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service has released its morning forecast for today, July 24, 2024, indicating that most of Belize can expect mostly sunny skies with a chance of isolated showers throughout the day.
A moderate easterly airflow is currently influencing the region’s weather patterns. While sunshine is expected to dominate, residents and visitors should be prepared for the possibility of scattered showers. As the day progresses into tonight and tomorrow morning, cloud cover will increase, bringing with it the potential for showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the southern and coastal areas of the country.
Marine conditions are anticipated to remain relatively calm, with easterly winds ranging from 10 to 15 knots and light chop generating waves between 2 and 4 feet.
Temperatures will vary across the country, with coastal regions experiencing highs of 89°F (32°C) and lows of 83°F (28°C). Inland areas will be warmer, reaching up to 94°F (34°C) during the day and dropping to 74°F (23°C) at night. Hilly regions will experience slightly milder temperatures, with highs of 81°F (27°C) and lows of 68°F (20°C).
The National Meteorological Service assures that there is no immediate threat of tropical cyclone formation in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico over the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Thursday and Thursday night, the forecast predicts cloudy intervals with intermittent showers and thunderstorms, primarily affecting the southern and coastal areas of Belize.
