Sunny with a chance of showers: Belize’s weather forecast for today

By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize forecasts a day of varied weather conditions across the country today. According to the report prepared by Catherine Cumberbatch, residents can expect a blend of sunshine and intermittent showers, particularly along coastal areas.

The general situation points to a prevailing moist airflow over Belize, influencing today’s weather dynamics. The 24-hour forecast suggests sunny conditions with cloudy intervals throughout the day. As evening approaches, the skies are expected to remain partly cloudy. Notably, a few morning showers are predicted along the coast, eventually becoming isolated later in the day.

For maritime activities, the forecast advises caution. Eastern winds are blowing steadily at 10 to 15 knots, and the sea state is choppy, with waves estimated to be between 3 to 5 feet high. These conditions are particularly relevant for fishermen and those venturing out to sea.

Temperature forecasts vary by region. Coastal areas will experience temperatures around 84°F (29°C) during the day and 78°F (26°C) at night. Inland regions are expected to be warmer, with daytime highs of 86°F (30°C) and nighttime lows of 69°F (21°C). The hills will enjoy cooler temperatures, with daytime highs of 74°F (23°C) and nighttime lows of 65°F (18°C).

The weather outlook for Friday morning and Friday night anticipates partly cloudy skies with a few morning showers along the coast. This is expected to give way to clearer skies later in the day.

In terms of tidal movements, today’s low tide will occur at 9:22 AM, followed by a high tide at 3:37 PM, and another low tide is expected at 11:10 PM. The next high tide is forecast for early tomorrow at 5:20 AM. Astronomically, the sun rose at 6:26 AM and is set to set at 5:39 PM. The moon will rise at 11:54 AM today, with the moonset scheduled for 1:01 AM tomorrow.

As Belizeans adapt their daily routines to the forecasted weather, the blend of sun and showers typical of the tropical climate is expected to add a dynamic element to the day’s activities.
