Sunny skies to give way to showers, thunderstorms in Belize

By Horace Palacio: Moist and unstable conditions will continue to dominate Belize’s weather, the National Meteorological Service said on Friday.

Sunny skies with cloudy intervals are expected throughout the day, with isolated showers. A few showers and thunderstorms may develop over inland areas, particularly in the Cayo and Stann Creek districts, in the afternoon and evening.

Outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect most areas tonight and tomorrow.

Temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 degrees Celsius) on the coast, 95 F (35 C) inland and 82 F (28 C) in the hills. Winds will be easterly to southeasterly, blowing at 5 to 10 knots, with light and variable conditions.

Marine conditions will see light chop with waves of 2 to 4 feet.

The outlook for Saturday and Saturday night is for cloudy skies with continued outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms affecting most areas.
