By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect a mix of sunshine and scattered clouds today, as moist conditions linger over the country before drier air begins to settle in tonight. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts isolated showers across the country, with slightly more activity expected over central and southern Belize during the day.
Moderate easterly winds at 10-15 knots will keep marine conditions choppy, with waves reaching 3-5 feet. While the seas remain relatively manageable, small craft operators should remain cautious in open waters, especially if localized showers create brief gusty winds.
Temperatures will be warm and pleasant, reaching 85°F (29°C) along the coast, 88°F (31°C) inland, and 76°F (24°C) in the hills. As night falls, temperatures will drop to 77°F (25°C) on the coast, 70°F (21°C) inland, and 65°F (18°C) in the hills.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, fair conditions will prevail, with only isolated showers expected. However, there is a slight possibility of an isolated thunderstorm over the Maya Mountains by the afternoon or evening.
Tidal activity today includes low tide at 7:20 AM, high tide at 1:10 PM, low tide at 8:36 PM, and high tide returning at 2:17 AM on Wednesday. The sun will set at 5:55 PM, while the moon is scheduled to rise at 11:03 PM.
Forecaster Tareek Matthews encourages residents to enjoy the warm and mostly dry weather, while remaining aware of localized showers in some regions.
