Sunday night crime: 13-year-old student shot and injured in Belize City

By Jose Luis Cruz: Breaking Belize News (BBN) reported earlier that a minor was shot in Belize City. More details on this shooting has since emerged and the victim has been identified.

Police investigations reveal that on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, just after 9:00 pm, they responded to a report about a shooting on Linda Vista Street and found that the victim had already been transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). Upon arrival at the KHMH they found the victim, identified as Rajan Thomas a 13-year-old Belizean student and a resident of Police Street, suffering from gunshot injuries to the body.

Initial investigations reveal that around 9:05 PM on the Sunday, Rajan Thomas and another male minor went to Shen Shen Mini Outlet situated at #157 Linda Vista St. Upon arrival, they found the shop closed. Rajan suggested they visit “Sams”, prompting both individuals to leave Shen Shen and head to “Sams”. While Rajan walked, the other minor rode ahead.

As Rajan was walking, two dark-complexioned males on a motorcycle passed by him on Linda Vista Street and opened fire in his direction, resulting in the injuries to the body.
