By Aaron Humes: The Constitution and Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives met Wednesday to examine and consider the Belize Constitution (Thirteenth Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Among other things the Bill proposes to clarify the use of State of Emergency periods and validate previous actions as well as establishing a gun and gang crimes court.
In compliance with section 69 of the Belize Constitution, the Committee invites written submissions from members of the public who wish to express their views or offer recommendations on the Bill. Submissions are to be addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly and sent via email to ClerkNA@bna.gov.bz or by mail to the National Assembly of Belize, P.0. Box 139, George Price Centre, Price Centre Road, Belmopan no later than Tuesday, August 26.
All email submissions should include the subject line: “Belize Constitution (Thirteenth Amendment) Bill, 2025;” whereas mailed submissions should clearly reference the same in the body of the letter.
All submissions will be duly considered by the Committee as part of its deliberations at a subsequent meeting.
