Press Release

The Magistrate Court of Belize hereby informs the public that, effective 1st August 2025, all requests for court records intended to support visa applications must be submitted at least six (6) weeks prior to the planned date of submitting the online visa application.

This measure is necessary due to a recent increase in the number of requests for criminal record verification. Please note that the court’s response includes a comprehensive review of all offences on record countrywide related to the applicant—regardless of the date of the offence. As such, verifying court records requires coordination with multiple judicial districts across Belize to ensure a complete and accurate response to be relied on by Embassies.

Making your requests:

By Email: To initiate the request, applicants are required to write an email with subject caption “Request for Criminal Record Ref: Visa Application” and attach the following documents:

  1. Copy of Birth Certificate
  2. Copy of Social Security Card
  3. Copy of current Police Record
  4. Copy of Marriage Certificate (if applicable, for name change)
  5. Copy of Deed Poll (if applicable, for name change)

OR

Applicants may also make their request in person at:

Belize City Magistrate Court

1729 Coney Drive

Belize City

In person request are made by way of cover letter stating the name of applicant and attaching all supporting documents listed above, in hand.

These documents are critical for verifying the correct spelling of names, dates of birth, and to cross-reference any records that may not appear in our automated system but are still maintained in our archives.

If you have criminal charges originating in different districts, you MUST state which district and if possible, the year in which the matter was concluded.

We urge all applicants to plan accordingly and submit their requests well in advance to avoid any delays in the visa application process.

For further inquiries or to submit your request, please contact the court via email at: magistratecourtbz@gmail.com

We thank the public for their cooperation and understanding.
