By Breaking Belize News Staff: Stoney Ferguson, the son of Agriculture Minister Rodwell Ferguson, has been formally arrested and charged with aggravated assault and insulting words. He was subsequently granted bail.
The charges follow a July 18 incident near a police checkpoint on the Placencia Main Road. Police allege that Ferguson became confrontational with officers and later threw a large stone that missed a police corporal but damaged a police patrol vehicle.
BBN previously reported that Interim Minister of Home Affairs Julius Espat directed police to arrest Ferguson and instructed that the case be handled according to law and without political considerations.
