By Aaron Humes: A remarkable turn of events unfolded over the weekend when local resident Joshua Trapp reported the theft of his beloved horse, Coconut.
Trapp, a self-employed businessman, visited the Ladyville Police Station on Sunday morning around 10:40 AM after discovering that his horse had gone missing from his property on Trinidad Road.
Coconut, a chestnut brown mixed quarter horse with a distinctive white face and a unique saddle burn on his back, has been part of Trapp’s family for the past 15 years. According to Trapp, he last saw Coconut on Saturday, June 21, around 11:00 AM. Upon returning home early Sunday morning, he noticed Coconut was not present, which was unusual given the horse’s daily routine.
Trapp told police he conducted a search of his surroundings and spoke to neighbors, but Coconut was nowhere to be found. At approximately 5:43 PM on Saturday, police received information regarding a horse matching Coconut’s description seen near Mile 5 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, in the vicinity of the New Haulover Bridge.
Officers promptly responded to the tip and located the horse in the care of two minor boys. Upon arrival at the scene, the police confirmed that the horse was indeed Coconut and contacted Trapp to verify its identity. Trapp was able to positively identify his horse, and Coconut was safely returned to him the same day.
