By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Health & Wellness is urging the public to stay alert and informed about the signs and symptoms of measles.
Measles is highly contagious and can spread quickly within communities. Early detection and timely medical attention are important in preventing complications and reducing transmission.
Measles usually begins with flu-like symptoms before a rash appears. Common symptoms include high fever, cough and runny nose.
Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. The rash often develops 3 to 5 days after the first symptoms, beginning with fever and facial rash progression.
If someone develops symptoms or has been exposed to measles, medical attention should be sought promptly, and contact with others should be limited to help prevent spread.
“Protect yourself, your family, and your community by staying informed and ensuring vaccinations are up to date,” the Ministry said.
