Stay hydrated and stay inside, Belize faces another brutal day as the heat cranks up inland

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans can expect another hot and mostly dry day, with forecasters warning that inland temperatures could reach as high as 98 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon.

The National Meteorological Service has issued a heat alert for inland communities, urging residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.

According to the forecast, most of the country will enjoy sunny skies and warm conditions, while rainfall is expected to remain limited. The only chance of showers is over southern Belize tonight, where isolated rainfall could develop.

Along the coast, temperatures are expected to reach around 90 degrees, while hill areas will remain noticeably cooler at approximately 84 degrees.

The heat alert comes as a stretch of dry weather continues across Belize. Forecasters say the warm conditions are expected to persist into the weekend, with little or no rain forecast for most areas on Saturday.

Marine conditions remain moderate, with southeasterly winds between 10 and 20 knots and waves ranging from four to six feet.

Health officials generally advise residents to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, especially children, older adults, and those working outdoors.

The good news is that no tropical cyclone development is expected in the region during the next 48 hours, allowing Belizeans to focus more on beating the heat than tracking storms.

For now, the biggest weather story is simple: it’s going to be hot, especially inland, and Belizeans are being encouraged to take precautions as temperatures approach triple digits.
