In recognition of Caribbean Statistics Day and our national observance of Statistics Week, the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) reaffirms its commitment to advancing the use of data as a cornerstone of national development.
This year, under the regional theme “Improving Lives Through Statistics: Strengthening and Innovating Together,” SIB celebrates the transformative power of data in shaping a more inclusive and resilient Belize. From October 14 to 17, 2025, the Institute will host a series of activities that highlight the role of statistics in driving evidence-based decision-making, promoting transparency, and fostering innovation within Belize’s National Statistical System (NSS).
Statistics Day Exhibition – October 15, 2025
As part of this year’s observance, SIB will host its annual Statistics Day Exhibition on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the University of Belize Gymnasium, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The exhibition will feature interactive booths from government ministries, statutory bodies, and partner organizations that make up the National Statistical System. Members of the public are invited to attend and explore how data informs national planning, service delivery, and policy development.
Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with statistical experts, learn about ongoing research initiatives, and see firsthand how statistics influence key sectors such as education, health, climate resilience, and economic development.
Data Users Conference – October 17, 2025
The week’s activities will culminate with SIB’s annual Data Users Conference on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Belize Biltmore Plaza, starting at 9:00 a.m.
This flagship event brings together policymakers, researchers, academics, private-sector leaders, and international development partners for a day of data-driven dialogue and collaboration.
This year’s conference will feature the official release of thematic reports from the 2022 Population and Housing Census, including the Migration Report and the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Report—two landmark publications providing deeper insights into the dynamics of population movement, living conditions, and social well-being across Belize.
Through these and other initiatives, SIB continues to reaffirm its commitment to advancing data accessibility, promoting innovation in statistical dissemination, and strengthening the institutional foundations of Belize’s statistical ecosystem.
