By Aaron Humes: 20-year-old Santiago Garcia was fatally stabbed on Sunday evening. The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. when according to police, Garcia received a call from his stepfather, Jason Sharp, requesting a ride to a nearby neighborhood.

Upon their arrival, the two men allegedly met with Kenroy Smith to purchase cannabis. An altercation broke out, leading to a violent confrontation. Witnesses reported seeing Garcia and Sharp attacked, with Garcia sustaining fatal stab wounds. Sharp, who also suffered serious injuries, was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital, where he received treatment. Smith reportedly took both men to the hospital along with himself as he too had been injured, then turned himself in to Dangriga police.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander of the Eastern Division, said today, “The investigation is ongoing, and the case has been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further directives.”
