By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 🏐Belize’s St John’s College (SJC) wrapped up their campaign at the IX Central American Student Games (CODICADER) for High School Students at the Intermediate (Under-18) Level with a resounding victory over Honduras to secure fifth place in the boys’ volleyball competition. The final placement match was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Gimnasio Nacional Eddy Cortés in La Sabana, San José, Costa Rica.

SJC defeated Colegio Pablo Celaya Sierra of Honduras in straight sets (25-9, 25-15), capping off a determined rebound after a tough group stage. The Belizean squad had to navigate a unique tournament format due to the seven-nation structure, which placed them in a three-team group alongside Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

🏐 Tournament Format and Recovery Path

After finishing third in their group, SJC faced Escuela Saúl Flores of El Salvador—last place from the four-team group—in a must-win match to avoid seventh place. Rising to the challenge, SJC dominated the Salvadoran champions (25-14, 25-12) on Monday, October 6, earning the right to contest the fifth-place match.

Their final performance against Honduras was clinical, displaying improved coordination, service pressure, and defensive coverage.
