By Rubén Morales Iglesias: National champions Saint Catherine Academy, who have won the tournament an impressive 20 times consecutively, are ready to defend their title in the upcoming eight-team National High Schools Volleyball Tournament. The tournament, set to take place on Friday and Saturday, November 8-9, at the Orange Walk Multipurpose Center, promises a highly competitive weekend of volleyball action.
The much-anticipated NSSSA National Volleyball Tournament is hosted by Belize High School of Agriculture in partnership with the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA). Games are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
The tournament will showcase the top volleyball schools from each of four regions, competing for the national championship. They are:
· Central champions Saint Catherine’s Academy
· Western champions Sacred Heart College
· Southern champions Toledo Community College
· Northern champions Orange Walk Technical High School
The tournament format features matchups of South versus West and Central versus North in the first round. The winners advance to the semifinals and then the final.
“This rotation style allows players to compete against new opponents, bringing a fresh challenge to this year’s tournament,” the NSSSA said in a statement.
The NSSSA encourages fans, families, and volleyball supporters to attend the tournament and cheer on Belize’s young volleyball athletes as they proudly represent their schools and regions.
Simultaneously, the boys’ national tournament will take place at the same venue, adding to the excitement of the event.
