Special Envoy highlights Autism Awareness Month

By Zoila Palma:  Rossana Briceño, Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, is promoting greater awareness of autism during April, which is recognized as Autism Awareness Month.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong condition that affects social skills, communication, and behavior, varying widely from person to person. While some individuals live independently, others may need lifelong support.

Briceño emphasized the importance of early intervention, inclusive attitudes, and adequate support systems to improve the lives of those with autism.

She urged the public to celebrate the strengths of individuals with autism and advocate for their full inclusion in society.

“Therefore, as we continue to promote awareness of autism, let us work together to support individuals with autism by advocating for their inclusion, celebrating their diverse abilities, and ensuring that they have access to the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives,” the Special Envoy said.
