By Zoila Palma: In celebration of Women’s Month and under the theme “Accelerating Action: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls,” Rossana Briceño, the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, visited the Kolbe Foundation at the Belize Central Prison, where she spent a meaningful morning with the female inmates.
The visit was marked by heartfelt testimonies, uplifting music, and prayers that provided a powerful reminder that hope and second chances are always within reach.
Briceño took the time to engage with the women, offering words of encouragement and support.
As part of her visit, Briceño distributed care packages to each woman, which included essential hygiene items such as sanitary pads, to help promote dignity and well-being among the inmates. These thoughtful gestures were a symbol of care and solidarity, reinforcing the message that every woman deserves respect and support.
A special thank you was extended to Mission Hope Belize, in partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Belize, and to the BCP Administration and Staff, for their collaboration in making this initiative possible. Together, they are helping to uplift and empower women, reminding them that they are seen, valued, and never alone.
This visit highlights the ongoing commitment to support women from all walks of life and provide them with the tools to reclaim their dignity and move forward on their journey.
