By Zoila Palma: Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children Rossana Briceno is celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of women in our society.
“Belize is the home to mothers, daughters, sisters, leaders, entrepreneurs, and change makers, all these remarkable women who have shaped our country’s history, culture, and progress and continue to do so. From our ancestors who fought for justice and equality to the women leading in business, politics, education, healthcare, and the development in our community today. Belizean women have always been at the heart of our nation’s growth,” the Special Envoy said.
As we celebrate the achievements and progress made, we must also recognize the challenges that remain.
This year’s theme, “Accelerating Action: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls”, is indeed a call to action to push for real change.
“We must continue to work and ensure safe spaces for all women and girls in Belize.
Let’s not only celebrate women today but also commit to support and uplift them every day,” the Special Envoy added.
Here’s to the women who shaped Belize and continue to lead us forward!
Happy International Women’s Day!
