Spanish Lookout Business Chamber condemns rising violence against delivery drivers

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Business Chamber of Spanish Lookout has strongly condemned what it describes as a growing wave of violent robberies targeting delivery drivers across Belize, calling the situation a serious threat to public safety and the national economy.

In a statement issued on January 8, the chamber expressed outrage over the recent killing of Caribbean Chicken delivery driver Mark Gabourel, describing the incident as a senseless act of violence that highlights the worsening crime situation in the country.

The chamber stated that delivery drivers and small businesses are increasingly vulnerable, warning that continued inaction sends the wrong message to criminals while leaving law-abiding citizens exposed. Business leaders stressed that no one should fear losing their life simply for doing their job.

The organization is calling on the Government of Belize, law enforcement, and the justice system to take swift and coordinated action to address violent crime and restore public confidence.
