By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, July 14, 2024, 147 Soaring Eagles graduated from Galen University at their 21st Convocation Exercises at St. Catherine’s Academy in Belize City.
Eagles who excelled academically were recognized and honored with their respective cords, Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude.
Four students graduated with Master Degree of Business Administration.
The welcome address was delivered by Saniyya Jazzmin Rosado who received the highest honor in the Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Rosado graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors.
The Keynote address was delivered by Speaker of the House of Representatives Valerie Woods.
Awards and recognition were presented by Provost Dr. Cynthia Eve Aird.
Graduates Kimara Gonzalez, Adrian Palma and Tamesha Jeal were recognized with the Soaring Eagle Award for exemplifying the true Galen Eagle Spirit.
“Today we award diplomas and certificates and confer undergraduate and graduate degrees on 147 Eagles who will take flight, soaring high … this is every educator’s dream … to see their students soar and build their communities and their country. I am so proud of the work we do at Galen University, Belize, and am humbled by the commitment of our Boards of Directors and Trustees for their wisdom, leadership and support, and for the unending commitment and stellar service to all of our faculty (full-time and adjunct) and support staff,” Dr. Aird expressed.
In addition, President of Galen University Dr. Rene Villanueva presented the President’s award to Provost Dr. Aird for her unwavering commitment and dedication to excellence in education in Belize.
The graduands all recited the Galen Pledge which commits them to explore and contemplate the pillars of sustainable development and the value of ethical leadership and strive to improve the qualities of any organization they work with.
The closing remarks was delivered by Christian Armand Loza, a graduand of the Master Degree Program who thanked God and his family for their support and encouragement. Loza also urged his fellow graduands to strive for greatness.
