Slim & Trim like Guava Limb repeat as winners of Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Slim & Trim like Guava Limb, comprising Javier Guardado, Daniel Cruz, Jr., and Andres Cabb, Jr., repeat as champions of the Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge winning all four legs of the annual canoeing event.

On Monday, Slim & Trim like Guava Limb were able to overcome the challenges in the final leg from Burrell Boom to Belize City edging Team Lucas Oil, consisting of Clayton Cabb, Roy Cano, and Enrique Cruz. Black Orchid Resort (Carlos Linares, Brandon Lind, and Christian Lopez) was a close third.

A few seconds later, Team PACT/Magical Belize (Jerry Rhaburn, Jerry Cante, and Hener Cruz) edged the Riverside Boysz (Allen Lopez, Efrain Cruz, Sr., and Efrain Cruz, Sr.) for fourth place.

Coming into the Belize City as they turned into the Hauolver Creek, Slim & Trim like Guava Limb led Black Orchid Resort and Team Lucas Oil.

Team Lucas Oil edged Slim & Trim to the Chetumal Bridge close to the finish. They were followed, seconds later, by Black Orchid Resort. Riverside Boysz  and Team Pact/Magical Belize were a distance behind.

After Stage three on Sunday, from Double Head Cabbage to Burrell Boom, Slim & Trim had built a lead of four minutes, 33.59 seconds (04:33.59) and on Monday they may have added a second over Team Lucas Oil. 

Before that they had won Stage 1 from San Ignacio to Banana Bank and Stage 2 from Banana Bank to Double Head Cabbage.
