Slim & Trim like Guava Limb edge Lucas Oil to win 1st stage of Belikin La Ruta Maya

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 2023 Belikin La Ruta Maya winners Slim and Trim like Guava Limb came from behind to edge Team Lucas Oil by five seconds to win Stage One from San Ignacio to Banana Bank of the 2024 edition on Friday, March 8.

Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb, comprising Javier Guardado, Daniel Cruz, Jr., and Andres Cabb, Jr. clocked five hours, eight minutes, and 11 seconds (05:08:11). Team Lucas Oil, consisting of Clayton Cabb, Roy Cano, and Enrique Cruz, were timed at 05:08:16.

Belize Coast Guard 1.5 (Wilbert Daniels, James Alford, and Daniel Gregorio) took third place in 05:09:21.

PACT/Magical Belize (Jerry Rhaburn, Jerry Cante, and Hener Cruz) finished in fourth place in 05:17:46.

Black Orchid Resort (Carlos Linares, Brandon Lind, and Christian Lopez) rounded off the Top Five in 05:17:48.

Three stages are left to complete this year’s Belikin La Ruta Maya.

Sixty-three teams are competing in the four-stage race which finishes in Belize City on Monday.
