By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Slim & Trim like Guava Limb, comprising Javier Guardado, Daniel Cruz, Jr., and Andres Cabb, Jr., are going for the repeat as Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge going into the fourth day with a lead of four minutes, 33.59 seconds (04:33.59). After the first three legs, Slim and Trim like Guava Limb total 15 hours 41 minutes 23.39 seconds (15:41:23.39).
They lead Team Lucas Oil, consisting of Clayton Cabb, Roy Cano, and Enrique Cruz, by four minutes, 33.59 seconds (04:33.59). The Belize Coast Guard 1.5 (Wilbert Daniels, James Alford, and Daniel Gregorio) are in 3rd place, Black Orchid Resort (Carlos Linares, Brandon Lind, and Christian Lopez) in fourth, and One Paddle Closer (Amado Cruz, Alfred Lopez, and Armando Lopez), the first Family Adventure team, in the fifth position.
Slim and Trim like Guava Limb have won the first 3 stages of the event from San Ignacio to Banana Bank on the first day, from Banana Bank to Double Head Cabbage on the second, and from Double Head Cabbage to Burrell Boom on the third.
On Sunday, Slim & Trim like Guava Limb take off from Paradise River Landing in Burrell Boom at 9:00 am, aiming to reach the Belize City Civic Center first after covering the final 26 miles, the shortest leg of the Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge.
The annual event has attracted thousands of fans throughout the country over the last few days.
