By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In a spectacular turn of events, Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb (Javier Guardado, Daniel Cruz Jr, Andres Cabb Jr) broke away from their rivals, Memory Lane Global Mission (Amado Cruz, Cristian Lopez, Carlos Linares), to win the fourth and final stage of the Belikin Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge. This impressive breakaway secured them their record third consecutive win in the biggest canoe race in Belize. Racing from Burrell Boom to Courthouse Wharf in Belize City, Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb demonstrated exceptional endurance and strategy, breaking free from their challengers who had edged them in the sprints during the first three stages.
For three stages, Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb lagged behind Memory Lane Global Missions by just cumulative 2.315 seconds. However, in a stunning comeback, they opened up a significant gap on the final day, leading by more than two minutes.
Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb’s victory is a testament to their dedication and perseverance, making them legends in the annals of the Belikin Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge.
UES Lucas Oil (Clayton Cab, Milenie Cab, Enrique Cruz) finished third in Stage 4 and overall.

- Stage 1 (Friday, March 7): Hawkesworth Bridge, San Ignacio to Banana Bank
- Stage 2 (Saturday, March 8): Banana Bank to Double Head Cabbage
- Stage 3 (Sunday, March 9): Double Head Cabbage to Paradise River Landing, Burrell Boom
- Stage 4 (Monday, March 10): Burrell Boom to Courthouse Wharf, Belize City
