By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The University of Belize (UB) student-athletes delivered outstanding performances at the 2025 Association of Tertiary Level Institutions of Belize (ATLIB) national athletics championships, held at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City on Saturday, February 1. However, the standout performer was Nyasha Harris from Saint John’s College Junior College (SJCJC), who emerged as the top athlete of the event.
The competition brought together university students from across the country, all vying for medals in their respective events.
Harris dominated the 100m and 200m sprints, the high jump, and the 4x100m relay, earning the title of top female athlete at the championships. Her teammate, LeAnn Seguro, excelled in middle-distance races, winning the 400m and 800m, and also taking gold in the 4x100m relay. UB’s Kendall Morgan contributed significantly to UB’s medal haul with strong performances in seven events, gaining two gold medals and five silver.
UB’s Elisha Rash showcased her endurance, winning two golds and two silver medals, contributing significantly to their impressive 39-medal haul.
